This week I went to the art museum to look at some Victorian costumes. To tell you the truth, I like the clothes of this period very much, because their design has a lot of elements I like, and the material of the fabric is suitable. My favourites are bubble sleeves and collars or ruffles at the bottom of the skirt, because they give me a lovely and elegant feel. During the tour, I drew some details, such as collar, cuff, skirt or waist.

Then I painted some details of the dress in black, just like the sleeves I said before or the ruffles on the bottom of the skirt. I took pictures of them and printed them out five different sizes. I tried to add these details and elements to the sportswear. For example, I used a collage to change the sleeves of my tracksuit into bubble sleeves, or to combine some folds on the outside of my tracksuit pants. I love this diversity, and it looks creative.

After that, I surveyed some Victorian fabrics and printed them out. In order to make these elements better combined with the fabric of the tracksuit, I came up with a good way to print the pattern of the Victorian-era fabric on the fabric of the tracksuit, which produced the Victorian tracksuit. I showed it in the collage.

I love my designs because they are a good combination of modern clothing pop elements and Victorian pop elements, because it doesn’t look like old fashion.
