I’ve done a lot of things these three days, such as collecting some old clothes and cutting them open again according to the stitches on them, and some of them are cut out in shape. On Tuesday we recreated the shape and style of the dress with casually cut clothes. My favourite work is the suit with white pants as the sleeve of the coat because I like that shape very much.

My second favourite design is pants design because I like to make pants style with the buttons and clothes of my coat. But it would be better if the clothes were a little wider, because it would be possible to put that part of the button on the waist.

I also used sweaters and shirts to make my design. I was just trying to try these two together, but it looked good. I like the sleeve made of a shirt best, which looks a little retro but has a modern feeling. In the course of this design, I also drew some lines of outline or detail. My favourite is this sketch of the sleeve, because it perfectly reflects the way to make this sleeve and the texture of the fabric.

After that, I finished the last two designs. My favourite is the second set of clothes, because I like its coat design, especially shoulder design and sleeve design. I want to express the weight in this suit. You can see that I used thin and soft white fabric to make the top part, but the skirt below I made it out of a dark blue sweater. Because this can reflect the contrast of the two fabrics and the weight of the colour. I also like the details of coat folds, which can also better reflect its weight.

Of course, I’ve tried many different basic designs before, and only four fabrics have been used together. I like that blue skirt very much, because I think the pattern on the fabric of this skirt is beautiful, so I will use this fabric in all these experiments. To better portray the image, I cut the skirt into two segments. The upper part of the skirt is mainly used for coat design.

In the past few days, I have also made some paper clothing shapes. I first picked out three pieces of clothes, trousers, short sleeves and jacket vests, then drew their contours on white paper, and then cut them off with scissors. When I finished cutting these shapes, I fixed them to the model at will, and finally formed a dress like a dress, and I liked it very much. This is mainly because the area distribution of the hemline of the skirt looks special, which also adds to the source of inspiration for the design. I also like the design around the neck, this part is likely to appear in my future design.

After that, I took the fabric to copy and print and made some small samples of fabric modification. The aim is to make the design of clothes made of paper more creative and inspirational. My favourite is the small sample of the skirt, because although I put together several different fabrics in this experiment, it will not be messy or vulgar because of the diversity of the fabric, but will become more interesting and diversified.

After testing the small sample of the paper version of the fabric, I began to carry out the large paper version of the clothing design. I printed out a lot of A3 size fabric patterns, finally picked out three and cut them down and fixed them to the model. My favourite design is the first, because the area distribution of the fabric is special, especially the design of the right shoulder. If it is made of real fabric, it will certainly be better. But I also like the paper version of this three-dimensional feeling. In addition, I also like the details of the sleeve design. When I made this sleeve, I was really surprised, because in this design I found my favourite elements, such as cuff shape and fabric use. And I also like this kind of retro style design very much, because I always feel exquisite to the retro design.

Finally, I did some fabric creation. My favourite is the one woven by hand in three grayscale, because the three colours don’t look messy and look smooth and comfortable together, and they can be magnified to make details of a dress, such as a shoulder design, chest design, skirt belt design, skirt bottom design, and so on. I also like the circular design made of denim fabric and white silk knots because the texture of the two fabrics collides but unexpectedly matches each other. And this sample can be turned into a bracelet or necklace to go with the dress.

In short, these days I have learned a lot of methods and skills, and also gained a lot of inspiration, of course, also have a sense of achievement. I believe I will use these production methods to complete my work in the future design.
